With the Consortium travel card you can use the two Renfe Suburban Trains routes in Malaga (routes C-1 and C-2), with the same bus fares, and transfer to other modes of transport (buses and MetroMálaga), with the same discounts for young people and large families.

To pay for the trip on Renfe Cercanías (C-1 Málaga-Fuengirola and C-2 Málaga-Álora) you can use, apart from the travel tickets sold by Renfe Cercanías:

  • The travel card of Malaga Consortium.
  • Any travel card from other Andalusian Consortiums.
  • The Consortium’s Large Family Travel Card: discount according to current regulations.
  • The Consortium’s Youth Transport Card, with a 25% discount.

The cost of the Renfe Cercanías journey, if paid for with the Consortium’s travel card, will depend on the number of fare crossings made (i.e., as with the bus, depending on the area of origin and destination).

When you pass the card through the pass to access the train, the 0 fare crossing fare will always be discounted, but when you arrive at the destination station, you must pass the card through the exit pass again, so that the price of the journey is automatically adjusted, according to the fares in force.

You have a maximum of 180 minutes to complete the journey from the entrance to the exit pass. If this time is exceeded, the passenger is considered not to have a travel ticket, and Renfe will apply the penalty corresponding to a passenger without a valid ticket to travel. Likewise, also in exit validation, if the penalty time (180m) is exceeded even if the passenger has a correctly formalised journey, the Consortium penalty will be applied at the exit pass, assuming that a journey of the maximum possible number of fare crossings (5 fare crossings) has been made.

If the Consortium card is not personalised, you can travel with up to 15 people, the maximum time allowed for your group is five minutes; on the other hand, if the card is personalised (with a photograph), only the cardholder can travel.

If you regret the trip you were going to make, you can cancel the trip as long as you have not exceeded 15 minutes from the time you paid at the entry pass (leaving from the same stop where you started the trip).

In the urban core of Cercanías Málaga, it is possible to top up and regularise the balance at any of the Renfe Cercanías vending machines, as well as at the ticket offices in the stations.

You can also buy the Malaga Consortium travel card at the ticket offices. You can consult the list of ticket offices where it can be purchased in the points of sale section of the Consortium’s website.
